A news report out of the North Pole has confirmed that Santa Claus will be at Cardwell Do-it Best Home Center, 3205 Madison Ave., from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.
The store’s holiday extravaganza will allow children to tell Santa their secret Christmas wishes while parents will have the opportunity to take free pictures of their kids with the jolly, bearded gent. There will also be gifts for all the little ones, candy canes with a special message and an appearance by former Indianapolis Colt Steve Knight, who will sign autographs.
“If anyone needs a little help in getting in the Christmas spirit, all they need to do is stop by here Saturday,” said store owner Jeff Cardwell. “There will be a lot of happy little kids.”
In addition, the center is collecting money and toys for needy local families and new and used shoes for African children. Those donating shoes are asked to tuck a brief note inside them for the children who will receive them.
“In the 20 years that we have been holding toy drives, this is the most successful one to date, thanks to the generous community and our sponsors: the Indiana Pacers, Zink Distributing, Garrity Tool, Hays & Sons Complete Restoration, Indiana Leadership Foundation and the governor’s office. We have collected more than $20,000 worth of toys and money,” said Cardwell, who also serves as a special assistant to Gov. Mike Pence.
Contributions are tax-deductible and can be dropped off at the center; checks can be mailed to the People Helping People Network, 3205 Madison Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46227.
