Roncalli High School senior Paige Moore receives the first-place award, a $16,000 scholarship, at the Kiwanis Club of Indianapolis annual Abe Lincoln Awards luncheon Friday. Moore, second from left, is with, from left, Roncalli director of special services Michelle Roberts, mother Keri Moore and Roncalli guidance director Lisa Beckwith. The program celebrates students who have overcome adversity while achieving success. Moore was one of 18 area high school seniors who received the Kiwanis Circle of Valor Award. She is the daughter of Keri and David Moore. Roncalli Principal Chuck Weisenbach pointed out that Paige had a major role in getting legislation passed in the Indiana General Assembly to assist students with severe hearing loss. She testified at committee hearings and spoke in front of the General Assembly and provided constant feedback as the proposed legislation was fashioned into law. Roberts praised Paige as being a focused and determined person who does not accept the status quo. Roberts stated, “Throughout her years of dealing with Meniere’s disease, Paige has tackled each challenge with positivity, creativity and a brave spirit. She is truly an inspiration and a joy to know.”
