The program, which follows a reception at 5 p.m., will feature several guest speakers, including UIndy President Rob Manuel, Fifth Third Bank Regional President Steve Alonso, Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership Executive Vice President Rob Evans, Local Initiatives Support Corp. Deputy Director Tedd Grain and volunteers from the community.
The unveiling is the culmination of over a year’s worth of community outreach and public meetings resulting in the participation of 400 residents and community stakeholders.
Goals in the plan include transforming Shelby Street into a cultural destination with local businesses and recreational opportunities. The Red Line Bus Rapid Transit is a key component of this vision as it will bring new people to the neighborhoods while improving access to Garfield Park, UIndy and other areas.
The plan also includes ambitious steps toward revitalizing Madison Avenue with the aim of making it a destination for residents of Fletcher Place and Fountain Square.
