SUBMITTED PHOTOS Perry Meridian’s and Southport’s valedictorians and salutatorians were recognized by the Perry Township Board of Education during its May meeting. Heidi Carpenter (above, left photo, second from right) was named Perry Meridian’s valedictorian after earning a 4.64 grade point average. With plans of attending medical school after completing her undergraduate degree, she aspires to become a pediatric surgeon with Doctors Without Borders. She’s seen with salutatorian Elizabeth Nellis, who earned a 4.62 GPA and plans to earn a degree in biology before enrolling in medical school. They are congratulated by Superintendent Tom Little (left) and Principal Rolland Abraham. Stephen Averitt (below, right photo), Southport’s top student, recorded a 4.58 GPA. He plans to major in math, French and Portuguese at Indiana University prior to embarking upon a career in mathematics in Europe. Salutatorian honors went to Caeli Malloy, who graduated with a 4.50 GPA. She plans to major in Spanish and nursing at IUPUI. They are seen with Little and Principal Barb Brouwer.
