Douglas was a standout for four years and was a member of the 1997 Indiana All-Star team. She helped lead Purdue University to the 1999 NCAA women’s basketball championship and was the Big 10 Player of the Year. She is the Southside’s most accomplished professional basketball player with the Connecticut Sun and was on the 2012 WNBA championship Indiana Fever team.
She retired as a pro player in 2015. She is married to Southsider Fred Poe. She is the owner of Orange Theory Fitness,1675 W. Smith Valley Road. She was honored between the girls and boys varsity basketball games with Southport and Perry Meridian. The Falcons opened the double-header by winning the girls game, 47-37. The next Battle of Perry Township was a classic as Southport captured the boys game in double overtime, 71-66.
