Treatment center withdraws petition to relocate to Southgate Plaza
Many Southsiders were opposed to the clinic, 2626 E. 46th St., moving to 3820 Madison Ave. and initiated a formidable remonstrance.
Most prevalent among those apprehensions were an increased crime rate for the area, added traffic, a lack of parking and the fact that such a center does nothing to improve the neighborhood’s image, which the University of Indianapolis, civic groups, businesses and residents have put so much effort into doing.
“What a wonderful demonstration of community!” Direct Connect Printing & Digital Services co-owner Robin Heldman noted in an email. “I cannot thank everyone enough for the effort put forth.”
