Beech Grove Mayor Dennis J. Buckley was sworn in for his second term Jan. 1 at Hornet Park Community Center, as were other elected and appointed officials.
The ceremony opened with the presentation of colors by Boy Scout Troop 108, with Carly Brooke singing the national anthem.
Buckley swore in board and commission members, directors and department heads.
The mayor discussed his recent meetings with new Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett. The two leaders have discussed how they can work together to make both cities better. Buckley also enlightened the audience about new plans for several of the city’s departments.
He spoke of the municipality's connection with the school system and working with Superintendent Paul Kaiser, who was on hand for the ceremony, which featured refreshments provided by Marcia Dorsey.
