The festive “Lights, Camera, ROAR!” held April 29 raised a massive $170,000 in much-needed funds for students, families, faculty, and staff of Roncalli High School. Nearly 500 guests took part in the fund-raising and fun night in the Ascension St. Vincent Gymnasium on the Roncalli campus. The annual ROAR event is the largest single fundraising event at Roncalli. Funds at “Lights, Camera, ROAR!” were raised in one night through donations, silent and live auctions, and various games. Promoted as a behindthe- scenes event, hundreds of attendees stepped up to help Roncalli and become a movie, TV star, or stage entertainer for the night. Patrons dressed as their favorite movie star, movie character, or behind-thescenes crewmembers. Superman, the Pink Ladies, and Napoleon Dynamite were among the characters who had tons of fun at the ROAR. Popular radio and TV personality JMV served as emcee. Big Rosco and the Hammers provided live entertainment. Patrons were served cocktails, appetizers, and dinner. The entire Roncalli family is grateful for the support from the fun-filled event that transformed the gymnasium into a movie-goers delight.
