Keeping up with Beech Grove

By Mayor Dennis Buckley

For as long as I can remember, Citizens Gas had operated a liquefied natural gas facility on Big Four Road in our industrial park. But now the operation consists of storing natural gas until the heating season begins and then distributing it.

Under the control of Citizens Energy Group, the facility has changed the way it conducts business. As a result, Kinetrex Energy was formed and converted the plant into a distribution center for the delivery of natural gas to vehicles. Between 20 to 25 tankers a day leave the facility to transport natural gas to area stations.

This is a major investment in our city, which is home to one of the two Kinetrex Energy distribution centers in central Indiana. What is even more exciting is that it is bringing more jobs to our city, and the assessed valuation of our city will increase as approximately $25 million could be invested in the property by year’s end.
The timing couldn’t be better as this is yet another piece of the puzzle that will go along way in rebuilding our beautiful city. Along with this development, another major event will take place as a new mill at ADM goes on line. When this is coupled with the recent Main Street redevelopment and the beginning stages of a new senior community, it all adds up to a much-needed financial boost for our beloved city.

Much to do will be made by Kinetrex’s announcement when T. Boone Pickens and Gov. Mike Pence visit our city today and take center stage for the facility’s grand opening.

I couldn’t be happier for our city, school system and library, as we will all benefit for years to come as a result of this action.
