Quilts of Valor state Chairman Christine Hurley presented quilts to Dale Zapp (left) and Tom Scanlon (right) for their service in World War II.
Zapp made 20 flights in the war zone while serving 2 1/2 years as a Navy air crewman in the Pacific. He holds a Distinguished Flying Cross and was a member of the September 2013 Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.
Scanlon served from 1942-46 in the 8th Air Force, mostly in England and Germany as an intelligence officer.
Zapp and Scanlon received their quilts July 18 at the Social of Greenwood, where they play duplicate bridge.
