Greenwood High School senior Calvin Weber received the Eagle Scout award during court of honor ceremonies Sunday at Greenwood United Methodist Church.
Weber attained the highest honor in Scouting for obtaining funding and building two climbing walls at the Indiana Future Farmers of America Leadership Center in Trafalgar.
Center Executive Director Joe Park praised the project that Weber began in October 2015 and completed last May. Developed to build leadership and team bonding, the walls are 12 by 7 feet and 12 by 10 feet.
Troop 263 Assistant Scoutmaster Jason Bockelman and committee chair Samantha Maupins presented Weber with the award.
Weber is the son of Rob and Jenny Weber and has been a Scout since becoming a Bobcat in 2006. His father served as one of his scoutmasters.
“Our pathways have been parallel in Scouting,” Rob Weber said.
Weber began with Pack 260 at Greenwood UMC, where he is a third-generation member. He earned all ranks from Bobcat to Arrow of Light. He crossed over to Troop 263 in 2011 and began earning all four levels of religious awards.
He attended National Youth Leadership training in 2014 and later served as a staffer for three years at Camp Kikthawenund and Pathfinder day camp staff tribe leader for three years. He received the Order of Arrow in 2015 and Firecrafter in 2016.
Weber plans to study culinary arts after graduating from Greenwood.
