A fifth person has been charged in connection with the house explosion in the Richmond Hill neighborhood that killed two people and destroyed or damaged almost 70 homes in November 2012.
Glenn Hults, 48, has been charged with one count of arson, a Class B felony.
Mark Leonard, his half brother, Bob Leonard Jr., Monserrate Shirley and Gary Thompson also face multiple charges in the case.
Court documents indicate that Hults kept Shirley’s daughter overnight while knowing that Mark Leonard planned to burn down Shirley’s house to collect insurance money.
Hults reportedly talked to Mark Leonard about what he would do with the payoff proceeds.
Shirley agreed to plead guilty in January to two counts of conspiracy to commit arson. Mark Leonard faces a June trial in St. Joseph County. Bob Leonard will have to wait until January 2016 for his trial in Allen County.
The blast killed John “Dion” and Jennifer Longworth and caused more than $4 million in property damage.
