In recognition of Rev. James Wilmoth’s 50 years in the priesthood, a billboard at the corner of U.S. 31 and Hanna Avenue bears his likeness. Wilmoth has served as pastor of St. Roch Catholic Church for the past 17 years and was previously assigned to St. Michael and Holy Name parishes.
A Mass was celebrated Sunday in his honor at St. Roch, and a reception followed at Primo Banquet Hall & Conference Center, where he was named a Sagamore of the Wabash, one of the highest honors a governor can bestow upon a person. A $10,000 endowment has been established in his name at Roncalli, where he serves as chaplain.
Another reception was held Monday at St. Roch School, with all the children congratulating their beloved friend and pastor.
