PictureSUBMITTED PHOTO Ground was broken Nov. 12 for the Beech Grove Station Senior Apartment Homes near Churchman Avenue on Schaff Street. Lending a helping hand were (from left) Don Webb, Beech Grove Redevelopment Commission; Edgar Tipton Jr., Community Action of Greater Indianapolis; State Rep. Cindy Kirchhofer; Mayor Dennis Buckley; Sen. Pat Miller; and Aaron Pechota, vice president of development of The NRP Group.
Cleveland-based NRP Group broke ground Nov. 12 for 60 apartments for residents ages 55 and older.
Located near Churchman Avenue on Schaff Street in Beech Grove, the $10.2 million apartment complex is targeted toward low- to moderate-income seniors and will feature two-bedroom, cottage-style quarters, a clubhouse and computer center and a picnic area.

In addition to meeting the strong demand for high-quality and affordable housing for seniors, the Beech Grove Station Senior Apartment Homes are near shopping and health centers and the Police and Fire departments, said Mayor Dennis Buckley.

He and Edgar N. Tipton Jr., president of Community Action of Greater Indianapolis, and Aaron Pechota, vice president of development for NRP, issued statements about the development during the ceremony.

“We’ve celebrated a number of successes in Beech Grove recently, and Beech Grove Station is an outstanding example of what can happen when we work together to improve our community and embrace our shared mission to provide a great quality of life for all of our residents,” Buckley said.

The complex is the result of individuals, businesses and government working together to ensure continued growth of the Beech Grove community. “CAGI is pleased to partner with The NRP Group, a top developer, to bring this much-needed senior apartment community to Beech Grove,” said Tipton.

Rent prices were not disclosed, but it was indicated that they would be similar to the NRP development in Avon, where two-bedroom units leased for between $333 and $639 monthly.
