A $10 Kroger gift card is all that’s needed to attend the event, which will be held from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, July 16, at the University of Indianapolis’ Schwitzer Student Center, 1400 Hanna Ave.
The annual event is designed to help reduce hunger and poverty.
“The sad fact is that one in five children in Indianapolis go hungry on a daily basis,” said event chairwoman Robin Heldman. “Fletcher Place Community Center’s mission is to provide needed services to families on the Near Southeastside, including the historic Fountain Square area. The Fletcher Place team does amazing work in helping to feed and assist homeless and lower income residents in this part of our community.
“We still have multiple sponsorship opportunities available for businesses interested in participating in this year’s Culinary Collage.” Those with an interest should call Heldman at 317-694-5096.
In addition to raising thousands of dollars to support the center’s programs, the event will raise awareness of the volunteer and donation opportunities available at the center.
Established in 1872, the center, 1637 Prospect St., works to break the cycle of poverty by providing immediate assistance with free hot meals, a food pantry and a free thrift store offering clothing and household items.
