The spirit of Christopher Columbus’ exploration, the struggles and triumphs of immigrants who helped build the United States and the heritage and cultural wealth of the Italian-American Indianapolis community will be celebrated at the Columbus Day Gala on Friday, Oct. 10, at the Hyatt Regency, 1 S. Capital Ave.
Sponsored by the Italian Heritage Society of Indiana, the annual dinner will recognize the recipients of the society’s Presidents Award, the Italian Person of the Year and the Sol Petruzzi Italian American of the Year.
In addition to observing the 612th anniversary of America’s discovery by Columbus, the event will recognize winners of the Nate Iaria Italian Heritage Society Scholarships. These promising Italian-American students join the previous 100 recipients who have been awarded more than 100 college scholarships.
The society, which is dedicated to preserving, promoting and celebrating Italian culture, welcomes the community to the gala.
