The City of Southport raised patriotism to a high level with the annual Southport Parade on the Fourth of July.
Hundreds of residents enjoyed the 40-plus units as they traveled north from Southport Elementary School to Southport Park for a cookout and patriotic songs. Justice the police mascot was near the front of the parade that also featured a color guard, recumbent bike riders, Murat Shrine Circus clowns, Southport equestrians, Hoosier Corvette Club, EM Company bucket truck, Mary Bryan Daughters of the American Revolution and a Zore’s Wrecker with a reminder not to text while driving. Free hot dogs, chips and drinks were served at the park.
