The smiling and friendly face of Bill Dillow at Cardwell Do-it Best Home Center will be nothing more than a memory after he retires today.
“It’s going to be bittersweet,” said the store manager, who has been employed there 26 years. “I am really going to miss the people. I guess I am going to have more time to do what I want while getting started on some projects around my house. I’ll get to sleep a little bit later and spend more time with my grandchildren. My wife, Vicki, and I plan to travel a little.”
He and his wife have three children, Bradley, Jonathon and Christy.
Jeff Cardwell, who owns the home center, said Dillow will be missed. “He wasn’t just an employee, he’s part of our family. Bill is a dear friend and has been an outstanding co-worker. He has been involved in all of our charitable programs through the People Helping People Network. He has played a key role in all of our Christmas programs.
“I’m excited for him as he enters a new chapter of his life. We wish him well.”
An open house in his honor will be held from 2-7 p.m. today at the center, 3205 Madison Ave.
