FREE MOVIE NIGHT AT GRACE CHURCH
The public can view the comedic fantasy, The Princess Bride, during a free movie night Friday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m. at Grace Church, 5605 S. Franklin Road. The popular movie stars Cary Elwes and will be shown outdoors on the church lawn behind the church. Hot dogs, popcorn, and soft drinks will be provided. Attendees should bring a lawn chair or blankets for seating. Patrons can arrive for refreshments any time after 7:30 p.m. The movie begins at 8:45 p.m. In case of questionable weather, the movie will be shown indoors. Grace Church Pastor Troy Sergey stated that this is a way for the church to reach out to the community. Info: call 317-661-1192.

MAIN STREET ART WALK
Handmade artworks and crafts by Hoosier artists are part of the First Friday Art Walk on Main Street in Beech Grove Friday, May 5, 5:30 p.m. Shops and restaurants on Main Street also will be open for a night out. Info: Beech Grove Artist Collective page on Facebook.

TEXTURED WORKS AT GARFIELD ARTS CENTER
Textured artworks and artforms will be on display at the Garfield Park Arts Center from May 5 through May 27. An opening reception with artists is Friday, May 5, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Regular center hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, closed Sunday and Monday. Info: gpacarts.org.

FRANCISCAN TRAIL 5K WALK / RUN
The Grove Trotters Overachievers group is having a community 5k walk / run Saturday, May 6, 9 a.m. at the Franciscan Trail. Participants are to gather at the trailhead at Sarah T. Bolton Park. Proceeds benefit the Hornet Pantry. Cost is $10 per person, $20 per family. Info: hornetparkcommunitycenter.com.

SPRING HERBAL GIFTS
Adults can make spring herbal gifts for family and friends Saturday, May 6, 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Garfield Park Conservatory. The Central Indiana Herb Society is the host organization with recipes, handouts, and herbal munchies plus information on how to grow herbs. Cost is $6 per person. Pre-registration required. GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION
Live theater entertainment returns to Greenwood with a partnership between On-Stage LIVE! and The Luxe Event Center. A grand opening celebration is set for Saturday, May 6, 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. for the public. The ribbon cutting takes place in the main event room with a 15- to 20-minute live entertainment tease. The Luxe will be the home of live entertainment presented by On-Stage LIVE! Entertainers and musicians, beginning in June. Info: The Luxe Event Center page on Facebook.

CITIZENSHIP CLASS AT WEST PERRY

SOUTHPORT LIBRARY STORYTIMES
Storytimes next week at the Southport branch library are for preschoolers and their caregivers Tuesday, May 9, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and for babies and toddlers up to 3 years old and caregivers Wednesday, May 10, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Each session features stories, songs, and rhymes and early literacy skills.  EXPLORING TECH AT BG LIBRARY

GREENWOOD SENIOR EXPO
The 24th annual Senior Expo unfolds Thursday, May 11, 9 a.m. to noon, at the Greenwood Community Center, 100 Surina Way. Health and living information for the public plus free health screenings. The Social of Greenwood is the event host. Admission is free. Info: thesocialofgreenwood.org.

CAREER CENTER AT GARFIELD PARK LIBRARY
Adults needing help with a resume, searching for a job or career online or filling out an online job application can participate in a career center at the Garfield Park branch library Thursday, May 11, 10 a.m. to noon. DECATUR LIBRARY GRAFITTI ART
A unique workshop featuring the genre of graffiti is for teens and adults Thursday, May 11, 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Decatur branch library, 5301 Kentucky Ave. Labeled Street Art 101, the workshop includes different fonts and the use of stencils, pencils, sharpies, cardboard, fabrics, and spray paint. THE STUDIO KIDS
School-age youths can make a Mother’s Day scrapbook page at The Studio in the Greenwood Public Library, Monday, May 8, 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Youths must bring a picture of their mother or the person they are giving the page as a gift.
