Driving will be a bit more complicated for the next five months on the Southside for motorists who use I-65.
Indiana Department of Transportation officials recently announced a $19.6 million bridge rebuilding project to begin March 6 with ramp closures for 150 days. The bridges are on I-65 over I-465 (new flyover) and Lick Creek.
By March, northbound and southbound motorists on I-65 will experience lane shifts and should use caution approaching the I-65/I-465 ramps. Southbound lanes will be reduced to two and northbound lanes down to three. Any interstate lane closures would take place from 9 p.m.-6 a.m.
The southbound I-65 ramp to eastbound I-465 will close in late March or early April.
Later this summer, both directions of traffic will use the southbound lanes while construction is completed on the northbound ones. This will close the northbound I-65 ramp to westbound I-465 and the eastbound ramp to northbound I-65. Info: www.in.gov/indot/3074.htm.
