The petition would allow Moench to process the limestone in connection with the Citizens Energy Deep Rock Tunnel Connector project.
Glenda Hueber, who lives across the street from the proposed facility and is president of the Germania Creek Neighborhood Association, has been working for weeks to get the word out to neighbors. She and some 400 remonstrators share worries that processing limestone and the resultant dust will contaminate the air.
The final hearing on the matter will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, at the City-County Building. Each side will have about 15 minutes to present their cases, with five-minute rebuttals. Hueber said she hopes a large number of Southsiders attend so the board understands how much the community is against the petition.
