Warner Wiley, middle, was honored Friday with the naming of the city’s police headquarters in ceremonies with deputy police chief Michael Maurice, left, and Wiley’s son, Ryan. The police facility at 340 E. Churchman Ave. is officially designated as the J. Warner Wiley Police Station. Wiley served as police chief under the late Mayor Elton H. Geshwiler and later served as an city council representative. Current Mayor Dennis Buckley praised Wiley for his 47 years of service to the city. Wiley told the crowd, “The Beech Grove Police Department will always be in my heart.” Wiley, a Beech Grove native, was joined by family and friends. The city council unanimously approved the naming of the building at an earlier meeting.
