The weeklong training session was spearheaded by the famous Radio City Rockettes and their choreographers, all of whom taught Myers and her dance mates new routines.
“When our feet hurt, our legs ached and our brains were overstuffed with information, we leaned on each other for support and had a blast along the way,” said Myers. “Yes, it was an experience of a lifetime with so many memories. In fact, I’m sure my hamstrings will never forget the day we did a full hour and 20 minutes of kick lines!”
While each dance was a different style, the level of precision didn’t change, said Myers. “The choreography only works if each dancer remains exactly evenly spaced as they dance and move across the stage.”
Myers noted that the week culminated with a performance that was designed to make them feel like a Rockette.
The daughter of Ann and Cliff Myers qualified for the initiative after shining during an audition that included a series of combinations with eye-high kicks, double pirouettes and a standard double-time step.
