Owner of Carole’s Fitness
It just kept gnawing at me. I had to write the story. It had been on my mind since Feb. 7, when my demonstration team from Carole’s Fitness performed at Faith Community Church.
While standing before team members and giving them instructions, I was reminded where these folks started. Hence the story begins. Back in the fall of 2012 I opened my exercise center at 5661 Madison Ave. for people 50 and older.
The sign went up, and I started getting calls right away. Folks were excited about starting some kind of fitness program without the gym or franchise atmosphere. It was an immediate success, and my members were excited about getting healthy and fit. Some have stayed and some have left.
Let’s go to the ones who have stayed ... survivors of cancer, hip replacement, heart surgery, knee replacement, weight loss and those who just wanted to get fit.
OK ... back to the story, ... it’s so easy to get off track. The demo team performed basic, intermediate and advanced fitness routines. What is so awesome about this story is that only those performing knew where they started. The team started with little or no capabilities but was determined to stick with it and build their bodies to a healthy level.
I can tell you that instructing this team of dedicated fitness folks is one of the most amazing and awesome experiences that I have been a part of. These folks, who had survived odds that many do not, were determined to get strong and healthy. They worked hard and never gave up while exhibiting courage, inspiration and strength. What a demonstration of showmanship! It takes strength and courage to never give up.
I hope I have said enough that will encourage you to do something that will make you stronger than you dreamed of being, just like those who exercise at Carole’s Fitness, where between 50 and 60 people between 50 and 93 years of age work out on a regular basis.
Now you know why I love what I do. It’s the folks who make up my fitness center ... some of the greatest individuals I have ever met.
