![]() SUBMITTED PHOTO St. Roch first-grader Kellen Marsh had been hoping to see his friend, Roncalli’s Nick Schnell, hit a home run in the Rebels’ semifinal sectional game against Pike on Saturday. Well Schnell, a senior outfielder who was named Gatorade’s Indiana Baseball Player of the Year on Monday, didn’t let Kellen down as he hit a towering blast over the fence, his 14th of the year. Kellen was overjoyed when the retrieved ball was handed over to Schnell’s parents, Jay and Angie Schnell (above), and they presented it to him ... and it was autographed by his buddy after the game. The No. 4 Rebels went on to defeat Pike 13-3 and downed Ben Davis 10-0 for the title. Schnell has attracted the attention of major league scouts and could be drafted in the first or second round. If he’s not selected, he has a scholarship to the University of Louisville. Kellen is the son of Roncalli football coach Scott Marsh and volleyball coach Missy Marsh, who is assisted by Mrs. Schnell.
