SUBMITTED COLLAGE Sylvia Gray’s silk paintings/wearable art and impressionistic oil paintings will be on display and for sale July 1-29 at the Southside Art League, 299 E. Broadway St., Greenwood. Gray didn’t begin actively pursuing her love of art until in her 40s, when she discovered the calming effect that making art had on her autistic son. “I never let a day go by without drawing or painting, trying to better my skills and more clearly express my emotions through art,” she said. “I am a big believer in the magic of taking action toward your dreams.” An open house in her honor will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 14, and she will host a silk painting demonstration from noon-2 p.m. the following day. The gallery is open from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday. Info: 317-882-5562.
