This meeting was illegal because it did not follow the rules to present a motion to remove the president.
I could not morally vote to remove Hostetler because I find her to be an intelligent and hard-working single mother of five wonderful children. She serves the community with honor and dignity.
Cooney cited that Hostetler did not attend many meetings – none of which were council meetings – which she always attended; however, he didn’t criticize the other councilors for missing meetings.
I believe that I – a second-term councilor – and my wife, Nannette Tunget, who served as Southport mayor for 17 years – have enough credibility to protect and defend Hostetler’s presidency until at least Dec. 31 and perhaps beyond.
