Brown has been responsible for soliciting, organizing and displaying artifacts for the rooms, which are housed in the Perry Township Education Center, 6548 Orinoco Ave. An honorary brick will be placed in the walkway to the center’s entrance as a lasting commemoration of his efforts.
His peers say he was a highly respected teacher who worked with other instructors in any manner possible to improve the school.
In addition to preserving the school’s history in his retirement years, he volunteers a couple a days each week at MacArthur Elementary.
Brown occasionally hosts opens houses at the rooms and welcomes the public to take a trip down memory lane. Email jwbjpb@sbcfglobal.net for more information.
