Roncalli Class of 2015
My Catholic education is a huge part of my life. I have not sat down and really thought what it means to me before now, but it is a major part of my identity. My Catholic education has allowed me to define who I am, and it has helped me choose the path that I want to go down.
Some may think by attending a Catholic school that you just learn about God. Yes, we do learn about God, but that is not all. We learn so much more: how to treat others, what is going on in our world today, how we can make a difference, and how we can be witnesses to God’s word in our everyday lives.
Everyday experiences make me grateful for choosing a Catholic education. Walking up and down the halls, I can see the school spirit and the genuine love for one another. This is a big part of why I love going to Roncalli. We are all more than just classmates, we are family.
A Catholic education has provided me with so many opportunities that most days I take it for granted. One opportunity I tend to take for granted is prayer and the openness of faith throughout my day at school.
We are required to do service hours. It is looked at as a burden at the beginning, but once you find something you truly love doing, it is a lot of fun. Service hours are a great way to get involved in the community and share our talents with others.
I would not trade my Catholic education for the world. It has allowed me to meet some of the best people while expanding my faith, which has grown exponentially at Roncalli. My faith also has prepared me to not fear whatever may come next because I know God will always be at my side.
