Sarah Fisher and team development driver Kyle O’Gara will race as teammates in the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl National for the second straight year in Tulsa, Okla.
O’Gara has raced in three previous bowl events and will drive the No. 27R midget car sponsored by Indy Trading Post, O’Gara’s Irish Pub and Hartman Oil, which is owned by Carpenter Fisher Hartman IndyCar Series team co-owner Wink Hartman.
O’Gara, a Beech Grove native, is coming off his best midget car season with 12 wins in 19 features and the USSA Mel Kenyon Midget Series championship.
Fisher returns to the prestigious race for the second consecutive year in the No. 67F midget car sponsored by Hartman Oil, Russell Oil and CHS. She returned to racing as a driver last year in the bowl for the first time since competing in the 2010 IndyCar Series season-ending race at Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway.
Practice began Monday at the indoor Tulsa Expo Raceway. O’Gara is to qualify tonight, Fisher Thursday.
“The Chili Bowl is an event I look forward to every year,” O’Gara said. “I’ve been competing for four years but every year the level of competition raises. It’s such a fun event to attend, let alone compete in.”
The six-day event, which has a record 335 entries from 24 states and five countries, wraps up Saturday with the 24-car championship race.
