St. Mark Grade School has been a leader in Catholic education since opening in 1948. It was the first school in the Archdiocese of Indianapolis to be named a Blue Ribbon School. St. Mark has a full-day pre-kindergarten class and offers Grades K-8 (one class per grade).
We focus on students’ growth in faith, academics and service to others. We have a full-time special needs department and an English language learner teacher. The school participates in the National School Lunch and Indiana voucher programs. Students attend Mass twice a week during the school day, participate in monthly Eucharistic adoration and say the rosary weekly. St. Mark received an A from the Indiana Department of Education for growth in ISTEP, IREAD and ECA scores.
Why did you pick Catholic education?
A Catholic education allows parents and teachers to work together to help children grow in their faith and academics. Students pray, attend Mass, are taught religion and are exposed to a rigorous academic curriculum.
What is your favorite school event, and how does it impact the students and faculty?
We have many outstanding events at St. Mark, but the seasons of Advent and Lent are extraordinary times to be in a Catholic school as they deeply impact the faith growth of our students, staff and parents.
