| Roncalli seniors Megan Choinacky, Connor Sabine and Maddie Mulinaro have signed letters of intent to play collegiate sports. Choinacky, who plans to play softball at Ohio State for coach Kelly Schoenly, holds the school’s single-season RBI record with 50. The four-year varsity player was named first team All-County and All-District in 2013. She guided the Rebels to two sectional championships, one regional crown and a county title. She is the daughter of David and Tina Choinacky and plans to study pharmacy. Sabine intends to play lacrosse for coach Greg Stocks at the University of Indianapolis, where he will study marketing. Sabine, son of Todd Sabine and Lisa Wilson, holds the school record for most saves in a game and was named the team’s Most Valuable Player this year. Mulinaro’s intentions are to play softball at Marian University for coach Scott Fleming. Southsider Voice correspondent Center Grove’s girls basketball team won the first Southside tourney of the season. The Trojans, ranked No. 6 among 4A teams, dominated unranked Franklin 76-35 for the championship in the six-team tourney at Whiteland. Center Grove led 22-2 after the first quarter and 39-11 at the half. Nine Trojans, led by senior Bri Gliesmann’s 16 points and seven steals, scored. Ali Line and Jessica Jorris added 15 and 11 points, respectively. Center Grove reached the title game by defeating the Warriors 64-40 Friday with senior guard Jessica Norris scoring 24 points on 6-of-8 3-point shooting. Whiteland committed 28 turnovers. Whiteland recovered Saturday and defeated Greenwood 42-36. Roncalli is off to a 3-1 start. The Rebels jumped to a 13-3 first-quarter lead over Cathedral on Saturday and rolled to a 57-43 win. Junior guard Lindsey Corsaro led the Rebels with 15 points and nine rebounds. Classmate Daesjah Ely scored 11 points, and junior Katie Carson had nine rebounds.
