Cuban teachers from the Estudio Sampere school accompanied the American educators to different sites around the county and explained their significance. Stackhouse and O’Connor, who rented rooms in private homes, said they would used the experience as an educational tool in their classrooms.
The trip was organized by retired high school Spanish teacher Tom Alsop, who has coordinated excursions to various Spanish-speaking countries. He has a master’s degree in Spanish literature and is an adjunct professor of the language at Butler.
