The men’s basketball team from Marian University played three games over the Christmas break, defeating Ava Maria 74-60 Dec. 20 in the Keiser Class in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., before losing 74-61 to Keiser the next night.
The Knights (9-7, 0-4 Crossroads League) lost to IUPUI 81-60 Dec. 28 in a midseason exhibition contest.
Marian hosted Bethel Tuesday (result unavailable at press time) and will travel to Taylor Jan. 7 and Grace Jan. 10 for 3 p.m. games.
The lady Knights (13-3, 3-1) defeated Georgetown 79-73 Dec. 22 behind the 15 points of Roncalli graduate Kellie Kirkhoff and Dejah Cyrus.
Next up is a 7 p.m. home game today against Bethel before traveling to Taylor Jan. 7 and Grace Jan. 11.
The University of Indianapolis’ ladies team (7-5, 1-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference) lost to Hillsdale (Mich.) 68-65 Dec. 29 and Northwood (Mich.) Dec. 31. UIndy’s Sydney Brackenmyre scored 18 points in the Hillsdale game.
The men’s team (3-7, 0-2) lost to Barry 110-83 Dec. 19.
Both squads will play road games against Missouri-St. Louis Jan. 5 and Maryville (St. Louis) Jan. 7 before returning home to meet Missouri S&T Jan. 12.
