Lutheran (15-15) – Entered playoffs with 10-14 record … won 11th straight sectional championship then 10th regional title but fell one win short of 1A state title game … trio of seniors graduated: first-team All-State Kimmie Kuehr (.511, 45 hits, 32 RBIs; 13-8, 2.91 ERA, 99 strike outs), Baily Snow (.300, 29 hits, 12 RBIs) and Elise Sombke (.299, 20 hits, 11 RBIs) … team batting average .308 … fourth-year coach Kevin Schmidt has savvy team …13 of 17 Saints played travel ball … hitters are soph shortstop Gabby Moore(.429, 36 hits, 29 RBIs), seniors, first baseman Katie Hopkins (.429, 36 hits, 26 runs) and catcher Randi Zulkowski (.290, 18 hits, 15 RBIs) and junior outfielder Rylee Morris (.291) … junior outfielder Ellie Holwager and soph third baseman Emily Streib experienced … junior infielder Miranda Dunn, soph second baseman Kaylee Gregory and freshman center fielder Kayla Dillinger will help …Dunn, Streib, Holwager and freshman Kaylee Gregory form mound corps … will field a JV team.

Coach’s comments: “We have some big shoes to fill; graduating Kimmie is big, but we have some good kids who return this year. It’s going to take multiple kids to reach those numbers that the seniors put up (combined 89 hits and 55 RBIs). We’re hoping that the bats of the returning players will pick us up at the plate. With the kids coming back and new ones, we will be able to fill slots. I feel that our pitching staff will be able to replace what we did last year. This is the most physically gifted team overall that I’ve had here. Our strength of schedule is big because we play up. We only have two 1A teams on our schedule and that really prepares us for sectional. Our kids have each other’s backs. I think this team will jell and help us achieve our goals.”

The young lady back row to the right in the dark blue shirt is Gabby Moore. Her name was not published correctly. Thank you
