SOUTHSIDER VOICE PHOTOS BY AL STILLEY Center Grove has solid returnees in (from left) junior Ella Thompson, senior Karinna Frankel, 5-10 senior standout and Purdue commit Cassidy Hardin and senior Amy Davis. Hardin, recovered from a broken ankle during tennis season, returns as the team’s floor leader and top scorer.
CENTER GROVE (14-9) – Stuckmeyer replaces coach Shawn Sanders (110-74), who stepped down after eight seasons and three sectional trophies … graduated six seniors … 50 percent of scoring and 60 percent of rebounding returns … hard-driving, 5-10 senior Cassidy Hardin (14.0 points, 5.1 rebounds) is fully recovered from a broken ankle and 5-8 junior/emotional leader Emma Utterback (5.3 points) lead returnees … junior Ella Thompson (5.3 points, 3.2 rebounds) adds savvy … Hardin joined by classmates Amy Davis and Karinna Frankel … they must bring younger players along … sophomores Claire Rake and Ashley Eck, junior Kylie Storm and freshman Mary Wilson show promise.

Coach’s comments: “Coach Sanders left us with some talented kids with skills. When you have that to start out any program, you have a chance to implement what you want to do and be successful because it matters to them. These girls want to be good and have success, and they are willing to put in the time and effort necessary.

“Shawn set a foundation. The culture is there to see the importance of competing and doing it the right way to have success. Cassidy and Emma are leaders but each in different ways. These girls compete and play exceptionally hard and have shown they can overcome adversity in games. We have a chance to be pretty solid.”
