Franklin Central’s girls and boys swim teams won the third annual Flashes Invite Saturday.
The girls won four events and swept three relays; the boys captured four events and two relays.
Girl winners from Franklin Central: Regan Schiffli – 100- and 200-yard freestyle; Abby McCormick – 100 backstroke. Relays: 200 medley – McCormick, Holly Cassinelli, Kathryn Matties and Schiffli; 200 freestyle – McCormick, Elise Miller, Grace Lawrence, Abbe Hershberger; 400 freestyle – Matties, Miller, Hershberger, Schiffli.
Team scores in the girls meet: Franklin Central 637, Greenwood 418, Beech Grove 381, Lawrence Central 315, Greenwood Christian 37, Winchester 32.
Greenwood freshman Grace Nuhfer dominated the 100 butterfly, winning by nearly four seconds. Greenwood’s Faith Jackson won the 1-meter diving competition with 220.8 points. Nikki Ziegler of Greenwood Christian Academy won a thrilling 500 freestyle race by 22-hundredths of a second ahead of Hershberger.
In the boys meet, FC’s Nathan Boomershine won the 50- and 100-freestyle; Joseph Brabender won the 200-individual medley; and Alexander Schreiner took the 100 breaststroke. The Flashes won the 200 medley with Brabender, Boomershine, Zach Kaster and Drew Mueller and the 400 freestyle with Brabender, Boomershine, Sam Handy and Alex Dafforn.
Beech Grove won four events: 200 freestyle – Jack Ulery; 100 butterfly – Janis Vuskalns; 100 freestyle – Jack Boyce; and the 200-freestyle relay – Vuskalns, Ulery, Boyce and Logan Boyce.
Team scores: Franklin Central 593, Beech Grove 451, Lawrence Central 419, Greenwood 307.
