It was the first time Perry Meridian hosted Southport in the new Falcon Stadium, but it was the visitors who felt at home. During the Cardinals’ 24-0 victory, their student section began shouting, "This is our house!"

Southport took the opening drive 90 yards for a touchdown as quarterback Eddie Schott scored on a keeper.

On Southport's second drive, the Cardinals went through the Falcon defense again as it was Rashawn Haskins taking the ball to the end zone on a short pass.

Meanwhile, Perry Meridian struggled on offense, going three-and-out on its first two possessions and gaining only 6 yards. Just before the first quarter ended, Perry Meridian finally got a first down but was trailing 17-0.

Both offenses had issues once the rain increased in the second quarter. Perry Meridian reached Southport territory but turned the ball over on downs.

A fumble stalled the Falcons (0-3) in the third quarter, and Southport's Nate Rockel intercepted Perry Meridian quarterback Brooks Davis. This set up a 17-yard touchdown run by junior Jalen Caldwell for the final score.

The Cards (1-2) have knocked off the Falcons 10 straight times, dating back to Perry's 19-7 win in 2010.
Perry Meridian will look for its first win Friday when hosting winless Terre Haute South. Southport travels to Terre Haute North.
