Beech Grove senior Chase Andries threw touchdown passes to Montrez Hearon and Dylan Allen, ran for one and intercepted a Lutheran pass for a touchdown. The Hornets won the Indiana Crossroads game 34-7. Walter Ballinger ran for 60 yards in the first half. Josh Wofford, Isaiah Hulse, Nate Sanchez and Dallas Culpepper were defensive standouts for the Hornets.

Greenwood’s Brandon Rosado and Isaiah Boras each ran for more than 100 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead the Woodmen over visiting Perry Meridian 34-7, spoiling the coaching debut of Matt Henninger. The Falcons were limited to 124 yards offense.

At Center Grove, the No. 1 ranked and reigning 6A state champions fell to visiting No. 5 Warren Central 21-16. Trojans running backs Titus McCoy (ankle) and Trevor Hohlt (knee) left the game early, but Ohio transfer Russell Yeast gained 128 yards and scored a touchdown.

Franklin Central opened with a come-from-behind 21-17 triumph at Decatur Central. The Flashes trailed 17-7 but forged ahead on short TD runs by Jon Arnold and Michael Pitz in the second half.

Resurgent Manual defeated host Gary Roosevelt 21-8 Saturday for its first opening game win in 12 years.
“We feel like this could be a great year,” contended Manual athletic director Aaron Sembly.

Always enjoy the SouthSiderVoice. I love the sports section because I like to keep up with how all the southside schools are doing. I really enjoyed your Sports Pick-em section last year. I am disappointed that you did not continue it this year. Not enough interest I suppose. However, I love this newspaper. Keep up the good work.

My sincere apology. I was looking around the sports section in different areas and found the 'Pick-em' section. I do apologize again. Next time I will do more searching before I comment. Thank you for understanding.
