Center Grove’s girls golf team qualified for the state finals with a second-place finish in Saturday’s regional meet at Smock Golf Course, where the Trojans finished 16 strokes behind No. 2 Westfield.
Hannah Wilson led the No. 11-ranked Trojans with a 79, which included two birdies and eight pars on the par 72 course. Teammates Sydney Abbott and Shelby Schier fired 82s while Breanna Davis shot 87 and Lucy Young 90.
Center Grove finished three strokes in front of third-place, No. 8 Zionsville. The top three teams advance to the state finals Friday and Saturday at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel. Tee time is 7:30 a.m. each day.
Perry Meridian, led by Annie Eisenbarth’s 83, was eighth. Roncalli, paced by Elaina Smith’s 95, was 13th.
Franklin Central’s Katelyn Edder fired a 92 with a 40 on the front nine at Smock.
Greenwood’s Julianna Lamey shot a 92 in the Lapel Regional at Edgewood Golf Course in Anderson.
