JOE CANTOU, 63, wife, Kim Cantou; parents, Tommy and Ramona Cantou; children, Ashton (Ross) Cantou, Christopher (Tiffany) and Kyle Wallace (Chloe), Ryan (Jenny) Martin; sister, Mary Frances Cantou.
Joe was a graduate of Taos High School in Taos, NM, and graduated from the University of New Mexico with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and went on to earn his master’s degree in Administration. Joe was Founder and CEO of Joe Cantou & Associates, Wealth Management.
During Joe’s career, he also served as a high school AP economics teacher, administrator and athletic director. Joe’s passion and joy came from coaching high school boys’ basketball and mentoring student-athletes. Joe coached boys varsity basketball in several high schools and locally served as boys varsity basketball coach at Southport High School and volunteer boys varsity basketball coach at Roncalli High School. Joe enjoyed playing basketball, playing his guitar, traveling, watching the Dallas Cowboys and painting. Joe’s Native American watercolor paintings were featured in art galleries in Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Indianapolis.

KEVIN R. MENNEL, 57, wife, Lisa Mennel; children, Cory (Krista) and Mara Mennel; siblings, David (Julie) Mennel and Kathleen (Chris) Painchaud; nine grandchildren; most trusted friend and coworker, Terry Marra.
Kevin graduated in the class of 1983 from Perry Meridian High School where he was active in the school’s band. After high school, Kevin graduated from Ivy Tech Community College where he earned his Associate’s degree and went on to become an ASE Certified Mechanic. In 2002 he began one of the most trusted Southside car shops, Kevin’s Auto Repair. He was known for going above and beyond to help his customers. Kevin treated others how he wished to be treated.
When not working at his shop Kevin could be found fishing, taking a trip to the casino, or cheering on his Indianapolis Colts. His grandchildren were very important, especially when it came to spoiling them for Christmas.

BARBARA LEE BENEDICT, 90, children, Randy (Pam) Benedict and Pamela Tuttle; three grandchildren; lifelong friend of the family, Lynne Toney Thomas; three great-grandchildren.
She was an amazing stay-at-home mother raising her family. Barbara enjoyed playing bingo with her friends. Some of her absolute favorite times were spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

JANICE KAY GARRINGER CHAMBERLIN, 83, widow of Elvan; brothers, David and Matthew McAllister; children, Erin, Brian and Eric Chamberlin, Renee Dougherty; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
She graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1957. She was always a glass full type of person and encouraged her children in the belief that they could accomplish anything they set their minds to. One summer in helping her twin sister, Janice cared for her 6 nieces and nephews in addition to her 5 children, resulting in 11 children under age 12 in one three-bedroom home. She always said the most difficult part was keeping track of 22 shoes.
Janice worked for AT&T for approximately 30 years, retiring in 1997. She was active in volunteer organizations. She devoted many hours to assisting in designing and completing the scenic backdrops for several years for the Junior Miss USA Pageants.

MARTHA DEAN DEANIE COVERT, 91, widow of Basil Covert, Jr.; children, Terri (Kent) Halberstadt, Jeff (Ruth) Covert; eight grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; brother, Donald (Phyllis) Cummings.
She worked at RCA for 16 years and at Naval Avionics for 34 years.She loved to work in the yard, dancing, and watching sports on television. She was lovingly known to all as Grammy.

Tony was a kind, simple, happy and content man with an incredible artistic ability and was most happy when he was outside enjoying nature. Tony could make anyone laugh and if you were fortunate enough to be around him for any length of time, you experienced his wit and unique sense of humor. He will always be loved and missed.

GUS ANDREW LEEPER, 61, mother, Peggy; siblings, Thomas, Jeff (Melissa) and Richard (Sherri) Leeper, Kim McCutcheon.
Gus was a proud United States Air Force veteran. He loved learning about space and his biggest dream as a child was to become an astronaut. He loved meeting new people and some would say he never met a stranger. He instantly made friends everywhere he went. He was very giving and kind.

DARLA LEANNE MARTIN, 58, mother, Dixie Hickey (Harry); siblings, Donna Kelly, Randy (Mikey) Hickey; children, Jonathan (Stephanie) and Leanne Martin, Jillian Grose; three grandsons, Kordell, Landon and Lennox.
Darla was a long-time medical assistant with the last 15 years at Beech Grove Family Medicine. She had a huge heart and that showed through her work. She always made those around her feel special and gave the best hugs. She was so proud of her family and where she came from but, she was especially proud of her kids.
A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, 2022 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 925 E. Hanna Ave. Indianapolis, IN 46227. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
MARGARET “MAGGIE” MOLLOY, 87, widow of Neil Molloy; children, Kevin (Laura), Nuala Moran, John (Fran), Anne Doyle (Dave), Tara Sears (Rob); eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Maggie was born in Sandycove, Ireland, one of 10 children. She worked hard from an early age and passed that work ethic on to her children. She was the first woman to swim with the Christian Brothers and was a 2-mile long-distance swimmer. She made many great memories in Ireland. She met Neil, the love of her life in Bray, Ireland. She had a knack for making everything she touched beautiful. If you went to her house for tea, she treated you like royalty. Her motto was “If I can do a good deed for someone, Lord please send them my way”. She had a strong faith in God.
Visitation and Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, Dec. 5, 2022 at St. Mark Catholic Church. Visitation will take place from 10 a.m.-noon, and Mass will begin at noon. O’Riley-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
CLIFFORD J. O’DELL, 44, mother, Millie Nolting; daughter, Kelsi O’Dell; siblings, Jeff Walker, Crystal Sigman; stepfather, Gary Nolting; stepdaughters, Deanna Funk, Madelynn Waugh.
His last place of employment was Iaria’s Italian Restaurant in Indianapolis. Cliff loved music, especially Ozzy Osbourne. He also enjoyed giving people little knick-knacks, as he had a big heart. He enjoyed carpentry, watching the History Channel, and watching movies.

MARILLYN L. PHILLIPS, 97, widow of James D. Phillips; son, Garry (Pam) Phillips; two grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
Marillyn loved spending time with her family and friends. She also loved working in her garden and walking with her friends. She retired with more than 25 years of service from Indianapolis Public Schools.

DAVID T. RANKIN, 76, wife, Barb; children, Sally (Donna) and Chuck; one grandson; sister, Barb (Roy).
Dave was a proud union Sheet Metal Worker. He was in the trade for 38 years, working for many shops in Local #20. In addition to enjoying his work, he made many longtime and special friends in the trade (several were his golf buddies too). Dave made many cherished friends starting in childhood and continuing through his retirement years. He enjoyed the fun times and camaraderie of all. Dave loved golf, movies, reading, crossword puzzles, woodworking, and metal fabrication. He also loved listening to ’50s and 60’s music, especially The Beatles, Linda Ronstadt and Willie Nelson.

RONALD KEVIN RETZ, 69, siblings, Kerry (Rene) and Pat Lowdermilk, Cheryl and John (Carol) Retz, Linda Shaw, Alicia Owens.
He graduated from Greenwood High School, and then moved to Illinois and eventually on to Oklahoma. He put down roots in Oklahoma City and lived there most of his adult life. He worked for several companies throughout the years, but most of his time was with the Triangle Corporation, where he was a foreman. In 2010, He returned to Greenwood to be nearer to his family. Growing up, Ron played baseball and basketball and has always been an avid fan of nearly all sports, especially IU Basketball. But what really brought the sparkle to his eyes was enjoying time with all the children in the family. When he couldn’t be with them, he was calling and asking about them. He loved them dearly. He was a man of strong faith and loved Jesus. He attended many Bible study and worship groups when able.

SUSAN M. SCOTT, 56, husband, Fred Sr.; son, Fred Jr.; siblings, Bobby (Mona), Barbara, David (Sherrie), Tom (Diana), Jimmy (Debbie), Carol (Scott) and John Leonard.
She was an enthusiast for birds, flower and vegetable gardening. She was an animal lover, which includes her pups, her companions, Luna and Honey. She was a fun, loving, quirky, and quite humorous lady with a huge personality.
She was a detailed person and helped her husband with his business.
She had a tight ship at home and she and Fred worked well keeping everything in order. Just recently Fred Sr. saw to it that she have what she wanted in everything and especially a home. Just recently they moved to a beautiful homestead in Mooresville. The home and scenery around it was breathtaking.

Jack was a graduate of Franklin Central High School and attended Ivy Technical College. He was employed in the Dairy Department for Kroger Grocery Stores for many years and was a Third Degree Freemason. Jack was always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and neighbors.

LINDA S. SMITH, 82, widow of Harold Smith; children, Dianna Golder and Brent Smith.
She attended Southport High School and then attended beauty college. She worked as a beautician for almost 50 years and enjoyed the many friendships she made while doing hair. She loved to travel with her family and friends. She was always faithful to God and attended church regularly when she could. She had a beautiful voice and sang in the choir, solos, and with several groups.
