Students at St. Roch School released 250 multicolored helium balloons that carried personalized cards to promote their parish’s annual Mayfest. The students hoped that some of the balloons would make it as far as Ohio.

Ray, a partner in the Ray & Mascari tomato repacking business, was fighting a lawsuit filed by Indianapolis, which was attempting to acquire his building at 270 Virginia Ave. through eminent domain. “Eminent domain is supposed to be used when taking private land for public use,” he said. “But that isn’t the case here. The city wants to take the land from one private party (us) and give it to another (Anthem Inc.). I don’t think that’s legal.”
