Considered the fastest woman in the world after winning three gold medals in track at the 1960 Olympics in Rome, Wilma Rudolf spoke at Keystone Middle School to kick off Positive Attitude Week. Rudolf was a childhood polio victim and had 22 siblings.

Jim Edison, 1950 graduate of Manual, was named the school’s Alumnus of the Year. He majored in music education at Butler and was a longtime teacher. Edison and his wife, June, had three children and seven grandchildren.

First-year University of Indianapolis tennis coach Malik Taney had the boys and girls teams off to 6-3 and 5-3 records, respectively. Caleb Fellers, one of his top players, led Center Grove High School to a state title in 2008. Others area players were Austin Ruddel, Matt Smith, Trevor Cox, Taylor Eckhart and Macey Speer.
