60 Years Ago This Week - 1962 
Sharon Resner and Rina Linz, seniors at Southport and Manual high schools, respectively, competed in the fifth annual Photoflash beauty pageant.

Dogs could be vaccinated against rabies for $1.50.

A gallon of milk cost 59 cents; a used electric range cost $75; a furnished four-room half-double rented for $90 for a month; and a 1952 Chevrolet was priced at $100 (it was said to run great while being cosmetically impaired).

As part of its get-acquainted special, Commercial Donut, 2133 Shelby St., served a donut and a cup of coffee for 10 cents.

The Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association named John Wirtz and Bill Bright to its Hall of Fame. Wirtz was 560-207 at Roncalli; Bright had compiled a 307-270 mark at Indiana Central College (now the University of Indianapolis)

Bryce Lacher was inducted into the Sertoma Club of Greenwood, which was celebrating its 35th anniversary.
