Bruce Bendinger and son David, a fifth-grader at Winchester Village Elementary School, rode their bicycles across Indiana, from the Illinois and Ohio borders. The 165-mile trip took about 14 hours over two days.

Elizabeth Levin, who taught orchestra at Southport High, was named Perry Township Schools’ Teacher of the year for 2001-02. Levin was a founder of the Circle City Youth Symphony and concertmaster of the Indianapolis Philharmonic Orchestra.

Classic Embroidery, which had been located at 7747 S. Meridian St. for 19 years, merged with Red Line Graphics to form Red Line Sportswear. Bill McCoy from the embroidery company was named president, and Mike Wadsworth from the graphics shop would serve as chief executive officer.
