the form of pick'em where readers prove their knowledge of the local gridiron.
The winning teams in the week two pick'em were: Roncalli (22-14- Tiebreaker), Westfield (27-
0), Lutheran (21-14), Beech Grove (47-14), Decatur Central (27-3), Center Grove (43-0),
Greenwood (44-7) and Shelbyville (38-26).
It was a competitive pick'em where three readers separated themselves from the most crowded
field in history of The Southsider Voice. The top three finishers only missed one game, and the
contest's second tiebreaker kicked in order to declare a winner.
The top three finishers were: John Faust, Doug Opel and Terry Woehler. All three missed the Cardinal Ritter at Lutheran game. The pick'em winner is determined by who correctly guesses the most winners among that week's games. The first tiebreaker is determined by the reader who guesses closest to points scored by the winning team in the tiebreaker while the second tiebreaker is determined by the overall score.
It took the second tiebreaker to determine the winner from week two action of pick'em. Opel came away in first place after his second tiebreaker score was only nine points off the mark to edge Woehler who was only two points behind Opel. Faust finished in third since he failed to put down a score for the tiebreaker game.
Opel garners a combo meal from Chick-A-Boom (8028 S. Emerson Avenue, Suite B) and a gift certificate to Jersey Mike's Subs (6815 S. Emerson Avenue). Woehler comes away with a gift certificate from Chicago's Pizza (1280 US 31, Greenwood) while Faust wins a gift certificate for a cactus blossom or fried pickles appetizer at Texas Roadhouse (270 S. Marlin Drive, Greenwood). Each of the top-three finishers also receives a gift certificate from SportClips good for 50 percent off any men's or boys service for new clients (ID required) or get a MVP or triple play upgrade (men's or boys) for loyal returning clients. All winners may pick up their prizes at The Southsider Voice office at 6025 Madison Ave. Remember to send in your picks for this week online by 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2.
