I want to share a couple of figures I ran across while compiling my notes for the State of the City address.
Our Department of Public Works collected more than 4,394 tons of trash in 2017. Over 390 tons of materials were collected for recycling. Over 45 percent of all homes in our beautiful city recycle at no cost, and all of that material was kept out of the earth.
Your participation in this wonderful program is much appreciated.
Our Police Department collected in excess of 460 pounds of unwanted prescription medicine in its front lobby at no cost to anyone.
If you participated in one of our free paper shredding programs last year, I want you to know that we shredded 6 tons of paper at no cost to you.
I will deliver my address at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Hornet Park Community Center.
