To the editor:
I would like to pass on some important information concerning our beautiful city and events that are set to take place over the next week or so.
We would like to welcome our friends from Community Health Network to our city. Friday was the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the agency’s new office behind the Taco Bell at 3850 S. Emerson Ave.
From 9 a.m.-noon Saturday we will hold a free paper shredding program at City Hall, 806 Main St., Beech Grove, where you can also recycle appliances, TVs, computers, bicycles, lawn mowers or any metals that you may have.
On Monday, Nov. 21, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Beech Grove Schools will host a free thanksgiving dinner at Beech Grove High School, 5330 Hornet Drive.
South Emerson Church of God, 3939 S. Emerson Ave., will hold a thanksgiving service at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22.
On a final note I would like to thank everyone who attended our Veterans Day service on the steps of City Hall. Special thanks to Pastors Paul Kirby, Michael Hendrix and Patrick Wood for their leadership of this event. Continued thanks goes to Steve Nontell for his rendition of “In Flanders Field” and the children’s choir from Holy Name Catholic School for its participation.
In this unfortunate time of stress in our country, we should pause and give thanks for everything that we have and everything we cherish. Our life is good, and I’m thankful that I live in a country were I can speak as a free person without the fear of retribution.
Dennis B. Buckley
Mayor of Beech Grove
