To the editor:
As most of you know, the Marsh Supermarket on Albany Street in Beech Grove was not one of the 26 stores purchased in the recent sale. It is slated to close July 20.
Our city attorney has been in contact with representatives from Marsh for more than a month, and we have researched some options to provide food services to citizens who live in the area.
On June 23 I met with a group to discuss the prospect of opening a grocery store at the soon-to-be-vacant property. I felt that the meeting went well, and further discussions will soon be taking place.
Out of respect for all of the people involved, I will not speak publicly about the group involved or its intent until after July 12, which is when the bankruptcy judge rules on the sale of the Marsh stores.

Mayor of Beech Grove
