I want to share some good news concerning the Amtrak facility in Beech Grove. Indiana’s budget for fiscal year 2018 has a line item for the funding of the Hoosier State train, which is important to the facility because it brings down cars from Chicago that need serviced.
A new agreement is in the works between Indiana, Amtrak and seven municipalities (Beech Grove is one) to continue with the train.
Over the next five years the Amtrak facility will be the recipient of a major investment in building upgrades and security fencing.
An employment limit of about 522 employees has been set for the facility. It is nice to see Amtrak advertising for good-paying positions.
As a strong supporter of the facility, I’m happy with the position the Indiana Department of Transportation has taken concerning the train. I look forward to continuing to work with the INDOT commissioner’s transportation staff.
